April 2025. The month I finally stopped talking about taking the leap and actually did it!
I quit my job and went freelance.
After over ten years working in different creative roles and learning so much along the way, I reached a point where I wanted more freedom, more space to grow, more projects that genuinely excite me, and more happiness in my everyday. So I stopped overthinking, stopped waiting for the perfect time, and took the very scary step I had been considering for years.
I am now focused on helping business owners and entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life through branding, graphic design, social media management, content creation, and website design.
If you know me, you already know I’m a perfectionist with a serious love for the small details. The things most people never notice. The things I absolutely will notice. It is exactly how my brain works and one of the reasons I’m good at what I do…if I do say so myself! (My slightly obsessive attention to detail finally feels like a positive!)
I used to think people only made big career changes once they felt completely confident. Turns out, that is not how it works. Most of us take the leap while feeling a little unsure, a bit nervous, and very excited all at once.
If you are reading this and have any advice to share, I would genuinely love to hear it. The good stuff. The challenging parts. The things you wish someone had told you. It’s always reassuring to know you are not the only one figuring things out as you go.
P.S. A little something that helped me, in case it helps someone else too:
“I think that life really comes down to deciding to follow your heart over your fears. Your heart speaks to you through your feelings deep within while fear speaks through others and judgments out there. Your heart can say to leave a relationship but fear can say you will be judged harshly for leaving. Your heart may say to start a new career but fear may say you are comfortable where you are now and it is not worth the risk. If you follow your heart anyways, your life will undoubtedly change. You will be guided by your true self instead of fear or doubt. You will find the people and jobs and places truly meant for you, and the rest will fall into place.” ~ Nikki Warne, from the book Shine from Within
So…
Here’s to following your heart over your fears.
Here’s to listening to the quiet voice that keeps whispering you want more.
And here’s to building something you are proud of.
